Overview
This tutorial will describe in detail how to customize your conference station and set your individual preferences using your Cisco IP Conference Phone 8831.
Applications
To change the Ringtone or Contrast, press the Applications softkey.
Press the Applications softkey.
Preferences
Use the Navigation Button to scroll and select Preferences. Note that you will see the current selected ringtone name. Select Ringtoneto change your ringtone, or use the Navigation Button to scroll and select Contrast, to adjust your screen’s contrast.

Ringtone Selection
Use the Navigation button to scroll through the list of ring types, and press the Play soft key to hear a sample of the selected ring type. When you find the desired ring type, press the Set softkey.
Your selection will be checked. Make sure to press the Apply soft key to confirm your selection.
To exit the menu, press Exit.
When you find the desired ring type, press the Set softkey.
Contrast Selection
You may want to change the contrast level of the LCD Screen.
To adjust the Contrast, press the Applicationssoftkey, then scroll and select Preferences. Reference the Applications and Preference steps above for more detail and photos. Select Contrast.
Press the Navigation button up to increase or down to decrease contrast.
Press the Save softkey to set the level or Cancelto exit.
Press the Navigation button up to increase or down to decrease contrast.
Expected result
- The product behaves as described in each step (connectivity, message, or UI state).
If something goes wrong
- Repeat the step and check for typos (hostnames, passwords, ports).
- Note the exact error message or screenshot.
- Open a ticket in the Boxis client area with the service name, time of the test, and any trace (e.g. traceroute) if it is a network issue.
