ONP Emergency Porting & Disaster Recovery

Boxis can include Emergency Porting under chapter 6.4.4 in a continuity or disaster-recovery plan, subject to prior Donor agreement.

Emergency Porting remains an exceptional ONP procedure and is distinct from Emergency Restoration. It is not a shortcut for a standard port.

When it applies

An exceptional ONP procedure, usable in a Boxis plan

Boxis can include Emergency Porting under chapter 6.4.4 in a continuity or disaster-recovery plan, subject to prior Donor agreement. Emergency Porting remains an exceptional ONP procedure and is distinct from Emergency Restoration.

Emergency Porting (ONP 6.4.4)

Exceptional ONP procedure with prior Donor agreement; wish ≥ now + 20 minutes. Can be used in a Boxis continuity / disaster-recovery plan.

Distinct from Emergency Restoration

At Swisscom, Emergency Restoration is offered only for DDI blocks, with restoration within 60 minutes maximum (separate process, ch. 6.8).

You obtain donor agreement

The customer must first obtain agreement from the donor / current provider. Boxis Professional Services then contacts the donor to formalise the EMERGENCY work-order.

Important: selecting “Emergency / Disaster Recovery” without prior donor agreement will lead to rejection. Obtain agreement from your current provider first, then call the Boxis hotline.

Teldas timelines

Teldas/INet process delays vs Emergency Porting

Swiss ONP industry process delays (working days, INet calendar) — ONP Rev 17.1. Not OFCOM statutory minima. Emergency Porting replaces them with donor agreement and wish ≥ now + 20 minutes.

Connection type Validation Lead time Minimum total
PSTN / ISDN (fixed) 2 wd 3 wd 5 wd
DDI / 058 / 0869 2 wd 5 wd 7 wd
INA (0800, 084x, 090x, 18xy) 2 wd 5 wd 7 wd
Emergency Porting (ch. 6.4.4) Prior donor agreement (phone) Wish ≥ now + 20 min

Working days = Monday–Friday excluding Swiss public holidays (INet calendar). Mobile (typically 4 wd) exists in Teldas/INet but is not presented as a Boxis retail offering here. Emergency Restoration (ch. 6.8) is out of scope for this table.

How to proceed

Four steps for an emergency port

Obtain donor agreement

First contact your current provider (donor operator) and obtain their prior agreement for an emergency port / EMERGENCY work-order.

Contact Boxis

Once you have the donor’s agreement, call +41 58 018 00 28. Boxis Professional Services then contacts the donor to formalise the EMERGENCY work-order.

File in the portal

Create the porting request, tick Emergency / Disaster Recovery, upload the PoA and confirm the wish date/time (≥ now + 20 minutes).

Cutover & verify

Once accepted, routing switches at the agreed time. You verify inbound calls; our DR desk stays reachable until handover is confirmed.

Conditions

What you should expect

Extra fees apply

Emergency ports incur donor charges and Boxis commercial fees (disaster-recovery handling). Exact amounts are confirmed before execution (catalogue / quote / invoice).

Same PoA rules

A valid Power of Attorney remains mandatory. Subscriber identity must match the donor contract; partial porting still needs the explicit PoA exception if other services stay with the donor.

Not for planned migrations

Project cutovers, office moves or “we want it sooner” follow Teldas/INet process minima (5–7 working days by type for Boxis Swiss ONP). Use the regular portability flow.

Handover still matters

After activation, the number becomes publicly ported (normally within ~2 hours). Other carriers update routing from the Teldas central database — short residual interruptions can still occur.

FAQ

Emergency porting questions

Can I unlock emergency myself in the client area?

You can prepare the request online, but you must first obtain agreement from your donor / current provider, then call us on +41 58 018 00 28. Boxis Professional Services then re-contacts the donor before the EMERGENCY priority is used.

Is emergency available outside business hours?

Yes — the dedicated desk answers 24/7. Donor availability still matters; we escalate bilaterally as soon as the donor can confirm.

Does emergency cancel my contract early for free?

No. Early-termination terms with the donor still apply unless you are already at contract end. Emergency Porting only shortens the technical ONP schedule (ch. 6.4.4), distinct from Restoration (ch. 6.8).

Where are standard ports documented?

See the main number portability page for the automated self-service flow, fees and typical end-to-end timelines.
