All mail flows through dedicated anti-spam gateways that sit in front of the Exchange servers and handle inbound and outbound routing. This front line applies multi-layer spam filtering, real-time virus scanning and DDoS mitigation — threats are blocked before they reach your mailboxes, and your outgoing mail is checked and routed cleanly to protect your domain reputation. Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest. For high availability, Exchange EDB databases are replicated across two data centres in Switzerland, with redundant database copies. Your mailboxes never depend on a single machine. Redundant load balancers sit in front of the platform and spread every connection across multiple Exchange servers in real time. If one node slows down or goes offline, traffic is instantly rerouted to the others — so webmail, ActiveSync and mail flow keep running without interruption.
Three dedicated mail-security gateways in front of Exchange
Before any message reaches your mailboxes, it passes through three dedicated anti-spam and anti-virus gateways running as a Swiss cluster — entirely separate from the connection load balancers. Every email, inbound and outbound, is scored on spam signatures, scanned for viruses and checked against sender reputation, DMARC and your custom rules. Anything suspicious or infected is moved to quarantine; only clean mail is delivered to Exchange.
Legal email archiving up to 10 years
For businesses with retention obligations, Boxis offers an optional email archiving with retention configurable up to 10 years, from CHF 8.90 excl. VAT per mailbox per month. This option can help you put in place an archiving policy aligned with internal, legal and sector-specific requirements. It is separate from the 15-day operational retention and from the optional daily backup.
