As part of our ongoing infrastructure improvement programme, we will perform scheduled maintenance on our border routers and BGP platforms. The work includes firmware and/or operating system upgrades and related updates to keep the routing stack secure, reliable, and up to date.
Start: 27 April 2026 — 23:30 CEST (21:30 UTC) End: 28 April 2026 — 04:00 CEST (02:00 UTC)
Service impact: None expected. We plan to work on devices in a redundant setup; traffic will be shifted from one router to the other in the normal, supported way (standard failover / convergence). We do not anticipate a customer-facing outage, though brief, localised BGP or path re-convergence may be observed in monitoring, without impact to overall service availability.
Service improvement: Hardening and updates on border/BGP systems for improved stability, security, and operability of the network edge.
Thank you for your understanding.
In progress — maintenance has just started. We are currently performing system upgrades on border router br3-40g (firmware/operating system and related services). The remaining border routers in the cluster continue to forward traffic; no service impact is expected at this stage. Further updates will follow as work continues.
Upgrade of br3-40g.gva1.ch completed successfully. We are now checking the health of all services and monitoring BGP convergence and edge routing. A further update will follow once verification is complete.
We continue the upgrade cycle on the border cluster. br2.gva1.ch is currently being upgraded (firmware/operating system). Other redundant members continue to handle traffic; no service impact expected under normal failover. Further updates will follow.
Upgrade of br2-40g.gva1.ch completed successfully. We are now checking network stability, running operational tests, and validating BGP/route tables and edge telemetry. Monitoring will remain increased until we sign off this maintenance window.
br1-40g.gva1.ch (GEN01 edge / 40G WAN-facing border): software/image uplift completed; box rejoined forwarding plane. BGP sessions to upstream/peers — Established post-reconciliation; additive RIB/FIB churn within nominal bounds. Next: ICMP RTT/canary probes, ACL/NP forwarding-path sync, TCAM sanity; traffic engineering / RSS overlays unchanged.
CLOSED — maintenance scope complete. GEN01/GVA border uplift cycle validated: forwarding-plane symmetry OK; BGP adjacency matrix Established everywhere expected; NLRI/prefix sets congruent across RR/PE edges; AS-PATH/LP/MED stable versus pre-window RIB snapshot; BFD where armed UP; RPKI ROV pass on sampled origins; ICMP canary / RTT latencies nominal; FIB churn quiescent. No residual TE holds; dampening idle. Operational SLO: routing convergence/stability GREEN.
